DiveCalendarGuide comes from a small idea that found the right moment to become a reality, and behind it is me.
My name is Rubén, and I started scuba diving when I took my first recreational diving course in 2001. But the love of curiosity and discovering what was under the water began much earlier when I was a child and went to summer with my cousins, in the apartment that my uncles and aunts rented on the coast during the summer months. Those moments left an imprint inside me that made that curiosity still linger.
When I grew up, I chose to pursue studies related to the environment and nature, ending up with a degree in Environmental Sciences. I have worked as a forest ranger and rural world, doing tasks of protection and monitoring of fauna and flora, for more than 7 years of experience.
Another aspect to highlight that is to blame for DiveCalendarGuide becoming a reality is the love of travel. Throughout my life I have been fortunate to have made many trips to magnificent places and in most of them I have had the opportunity to dive under its waters and experience great encounters with spectacular marine fauna, from gigantic female whale sharks in the Galapagos Islands, and enormous schools of hammerhead sharks, until they find pygmy seahorses and blue-ringed octopuses in Raja Ampat, as well as enjoying the excitement produced by the rush of adrenaline during a sardine run in South Africa, like the relaxation you get from watching the oceanic manta rays dance in Kabira Bay in Okinawa, Japan… to give a few examples.
And it was because of these two hobbies, diving and traveling, that the idea, or need, to produce the DiveCalendarGuide calendars appeared, since every time I have wanted to travel I have looked for destinations that also had a great attraction to dive in their waters. To go in the best season of the year and in the best places to observe certain animals it is necessary to look for a lot of information and that this is reliable, which in the end made me think of being able to compile it all and expose it in a format easy to consult, and that is when the idea of the calendar appeared.
It was then, when I decided that I would make the calendars, that began an arduous work of research and search for information and contrast all of it, plus the work of editing, printing, obtaining images that took at least a year of dedication.
After all the work has been completed, the result is a beautiful calendar that can be an attractive decorative element in your home, which also has a lot of information that will help you to choose your future vacation destinations and will remind you of the wonderful moments of your past trips.
